Are there any classic holiday movies or TV shows that you look forward to watching year after year? What are your all-time favorites? Are there any you simply can't stand?

I love love The Holiday! I just finished watching it. With chestnuts!

And I used to not want to watch Love Actually because of the girl who rejected Rodrigo Santoro (because fo srs, WTF) but after watching the whole movie a few weeks ago, the other stories help you look over that fact. Sort of. Hugh Grant would make a dashing prime minister and "It's the saddest part of my day, leaving you." Maybe I'll watch it tomorrow!

It's often said that the simple things in life are the most precious. What small pleasures make you the happiest?

Currently it's the lights in Ateneo. Or just Ateneo at night in general! In the day everyone's too preoccupied with school and it's hot and noisy and cluttered. At night everything's peaceful and quiet and sometimes you can hear the choir practicing at Colayco Pav, which, when the grounds are almost deserted, is kind of haunting and beautiful. And right now the lights in Bel field for the simbang gabi are so pretty and bright and Christmas-y and the weather is cool and it's like Anberlin's Inevitable with the bells (which always remind me of Christmas) and the overall feeling of wonder and amazement. I've been going home late for the past week partly because of the pretty pretty lights :)

According to our POS teacher (and her friends in the government), President Ramos started his day at 3 am and worked like the military trained man he is until 11 pm. He was so systematic that they had to make sure his car could double as an office. Then Joseph Estrada became president. He, on the other hand, started his day at 11 am and ended it at 3 pm.

Tres interessant and very reflective of their administrations. During Ramos' administration we were able to weather the Asian economic crisis which crippled most Southeast Asian countries and during Estrada's administration, we had EDSA II.

CHRISTMAS!!!!! :)

I love the food (noche buena! CHESTNUTS! Christmas cookies, cakes, pastries, OMG) and the free time (two week break!) and the weather (yet to be determined because Philippine weather is manic-depressive, but I'm hoping it'll be supercold) and the songs and the presents!!!!!!! It's such a happy time for everyone.

I also love Valentine's Day because even though I am alone, I get to spend it with friends and enjoy being alone. I like Valentine's Day in school because you see people being all like, eew and it's really funny!

But the expression of a well made man appears not only in his face,
It is in his limbs and joints also, it is curiously in the joints of his hips and wrists,
It is in his walk, the carriage of his neck, the flex of his waist and knees, dress does not hide him,
The strong sweet quality he has strikes though the cotton and the broadcloth,
To see him pass conveys as much as the best poem, perhaps more,
You linger to see his back, and the back of his neck and shoulder side.

-I sing the body electric, Walt Whitman

(such a poignant title btw, I need to start reading literature again)

WTF
This is why I am very particular about book to screen transitions. Sure, the book will almost always be better than the adapted movie or television show. They'll always go all Hollywood on the adaptation. Like in the Harry Potter 6 movie, with the made up Ginny and Harry scene in the room of requirement. I mean the epilogue was bad enough come on. And in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, with the romance thing between Susan and the Prince like WTF. But OMG I never thought they would adapt a Gossip Girl book to the the Gossip Girl television show. I mean WTF Von Zigesar Chuck was GAY when you ended the series with a ghost writer and Nate impulsively deciding he can't choose between Blair and Serena was just so deux ex machina.  Then they write a sort of epilogue book with Chuck/Blair, Dan/Serena and Jenny/Nate all happening like in the show and OMFG did you like, sell out to the suits? I understand the other two but WTF man Chuck is GAY. Sure the fans want him not gay in the show and there's money in demand and lalala but THE BOOKS COME ON. The books. Let Schwartz fuck up the plot however he wants to in the show but the books. They should have left the books alone. She should have separated the book world from the world of the CW and not written all of those horrible things. It's insulting and appalling and good luck for the backlash.

If you found out you only had six months left to live, what would you do with the rest of your life? Do you have a "bucket list"?

There's really only one thing I want to do in my life. I want to go to Europe and eat different European food! I want to go to Italy and France and Greece and Spain and all of the European countries with delicious European food I've yet to try. Then I'll probably go to the states too and eat cheeseburgers. Like the ones on that website. There is only one thing on my bucket list, and that is eat. And tell people I love them, but mostly eat new food!

If a magic genie told you your calories wouldn't count for 24 hours, would it change what and how much you ate that day?

OF COURSE HORSE! I'm not really on a diet and I eat anything I want, but the thing is my eating habits are kind of tailored to what I've cultivated on the Food Network. Like I learned to use less butter and more olive oil, and I eat whole grain now, and I learned to appreciate vegetables (with garlic and salt of course). I only eat rice because it's the only thing you can eat in school and I love lechon macau from Buddha Bean. I learned to control portions. I've also learned to stay away from chips and soda. Oily things make me gag. The only thing I can never give up are desserts and that's only when I'm craving for something particular.

So I'd eat that double quarter pounder from McDonald's that I'm too terrified to eat. And some big angus burger from Burger King too. Then I'll stuff my face with Cheetos and Doritos and eat pizza by myself. Then I'd eat all kinds of cake - cupcakes, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes. And pies. And tarts. And a meatball sub. And lots of cheese because I won't bloat. And Ben and Jerry's little ice cream pints in all flavors. And cookie dough. And whatever else food they have on that "Eat This, Not That" list. I'll eat the whole menu of Friday's! And Shakey's mojos. Lots and lots of Shakey's mojos.

:((

The stomach is a void that can never be satisfied.

So I was reading about Robert Langdon running through underground tunnels in Washinton at the Lib a while ago when suddenly all of the lights shut off. It was so freaky! I was at the first floor and it was raining so the only source of bright light was that (apparently, never noticed it) clear ceiling near the entrance. Imagine if I was looking through the shelves on the third floor. So very slasher movie.

And I realized that Ambeth Ocampo is like Robert Langdon! They're both big history buffs and they're both renowned scholars and professors. Langdon always gets into some kind of adventure, which reminded me of the adventures Ambeth would tell us in summer Histo class. Like the time he trespassed on some private compound in Paris to see where Juan Luna murdered his wife and mother-in-law. Or the time he tricked a National Library person into letting him see one of the few surviving original copies of the Noli when it was first printed. Super awesome!

I didn't watch the UAAP cheerdance competition earlier so I looked for the vids of the routines on youtube. I don't know shit about dancing so I can't really tell which school was good and which sucked (though tangina mo FEU for getting Salva ejected) so I was like, whatev, good job Ateneo and UP because we are like, neighbors. Then I saw this comment.

We do not deserved to be in the top 3! Salute to NU for best improved team! Generally nothing new in gimmicks! Better check where the judges came from! And should be younger who knows the new stunts!

Play count of Hot Mess by Cobra Starship on my iPod. This is impossible! I only uploaded the song less than a month ago and 1,649 plays already? I computed and even if I played the song nonstop for 25 days I would have only played it for (roughly, I rounded out the playing time to 3 mins) 1,200 times. What is wrong with my iPod. Crazy!

PS: Alex stop procrastinating and get back to those 3 papers
